[Resource One]
Write each Ten Commandment on the board and discuss what they really mean. Note that these Ten Commandments will be an adapted “Kid’s Version.”
Students will then answer the following questions as a whole class:
1. So who were the first sinners?
2. What did they do?
3. Why do we confess our sins?
Following this students will work in groups to make their own stone tablets using craft resources and write the Ten Commandments on them.
[Reason]
A resource like this would be very effective in a Year 4 class because it enables students to develop a fresh understanding of what a sin is, how we can confess sins and be forgiven of them. Through this resource students will gain awareness of the history of the first sinners and why it is important to confess our sins. The craft aspect of this resource will further engage students and foster their creativity as they have fun creating their own stone tablets while demonstrating working together collaboratively in groups.

[Resource Two]
Students break down and discuss the steps to a “good Confession". Following this students draw and illustrate these steps. Students also view a YouTube clip regarding the steps taken to perform Confession.
[Reason]
A resource like this is very important as it enables students to break down the components of confession and discover the reason behind confessing our sins. Students need to learn about Confession as it is an important aspect of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and through this resource students are exposed to this aspect. Breaking confession down into steps will create clarity and a safe environment where students do not feel overwhelmed by Confession, but actually feel secure and confident in participating in the future.

[Resources Three]
Read the story of Jesus and forgiveness to the students. Students brainstorm why they think it is good to forgive others. Students share their feelings of how they feel when they hurt others and when others hurt them. Students are given a table with the days of the week on it. Students are encouraged to use the table to write down what they need to be sorry for that day and who they need to ask for forgiveness.
[Reason]
This resource is effective in assisting students in developing an understanding of the importance of recognising when they commit wrongful acts as well as seeking forgiveness. The table used in this resource is beneficial as it encourages students to become aware of what they are sorry for. Additionally, this resource encourages students to forgive willingly, be gracious towards each other, be quick to admit they were wrong and to then apologise.
